Added some small touches with mosaic tiles.

Visually, broke up the green lego roof of one of the ceramic buildings. At the moment it still presents a bit of a mass of greenness.

Thought that some suggestions of windows in the garrets would add to the visual interest.

So, stuck a pair of little light green mosaic tiles onto each garret.

Think it helps.

Back to Mosaic

Still trying to tackle what I call "The overall visual effect" of the model railway. Nothing to do with verisimilitude but very much to do with making the layout pleasing to behold.

My next target/culprit for attention is the roof of one of the ceramic buildings which at present has a pitched lego roof with a flat dark green inlay.

The roof presents too much of a dark green mass; it needs breaking up, visually speaking.

Since I have used a chequered pattern of mosaic tiles elsewhere on the layout, notably the platforms but also the roof of another ceramic building, I thought I'd apply the same solution to this roof inlay.

And here's the result:

A definite improvement, I think.

More Painting

Continued to add detail to the back of  the building that had been a blot on the landscape.

Original blot.

Less blotty
Some detail

More windows

Whichever way you look at it, the situation is much less blotty.

More diorama fiddling.

The dark blank expanse of wall running along the side of the station platforms has always upset the visual balance of the diorama.

So I decided to remove it........

And paint the back of it white ...........

Aleady a big improvement but next I'll draw in some windows and other features.
