The Joys of French Camp Sites

French camp sites, in our experience, are:

Clean;
Well staffed and courteously staffed;
Safe (as anywhere these days);
Near the sea (if you want);
With good restaurants and supermarkets on site;
and
Pleasing to the eye.

But with dodgy wi-fi connections.
