I can't believe this. Yesterday, I seemed to have solved the problems of getting snap lock connectors to work. Today, I completed the final 4 connections for the platform lights and NONE of them have worked reliably. As soon as the thinner wire is wiggled the connection fails.
Yesterday's blog will have to be read to understand what on earth I'm talking about.
I couldn't bear having such unreliable wiring underneath the baseboard so I'm going to go down a completely different route - soldering Philips joints.
Basically, one removes the insulation from the thicker of the two cables, wraps the bare end of the smaller wire 4 or 5 times around the exposed strands and smothers the joint with solder.
But, how do you strip the insulation from the middle of a cable???
According to the internet one can either use a craft knife to scrape the plastic away (sounds like a recipe for a slashed finger) or melt the plastic away with a blow torch or hot soldering iron (I'm not doing that.)
Or, one cuts the main cable, strips the plastic away from the two ends and then solders it all back together when one adds the thinner wire.
Once the cable has been cut and the plastic insulation removed from the two ends, A and B, bring A and B back together, wrap C around them and smother with solder.
Sounds a bit of a footer, but ultimately will lead to electrical peace of mind. Watch this space.

Nothing. Unusually, I don't feel like listening to music today.

Last night's dinner:
Small piece of cod, Queen scallops, green olives, artichokes and a few anchovies.
I'd never seen Queen scallops before. They're the same as normal King scallops but much, much smaller - not younger, just a different species.
Cost per head: £5.25

Cyprian Life:
Saw this spiritual passage quoted in this month's edition of the magazine of St Cyprian's Church, Lenzie.
People are often unreasonable and self-centred.
Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of ulterior motives.
Be kind anyway.
If you are honest, people may cheat you.
Be honest anyway.
If you find happiness, people may be jealous.
Be happy anyway.
The good you do today may be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough.
Give your best anyway.
For you see, in the end, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.
Mother Teresa
I read this passage in the latest magazine and thought it was very encouraging.
