Final Ceramics Building?

Went into college today to collect the pieces of my final ceramic building. It had been given its final firing.

Unfortunately, one of the walls has a crack in it, but that can be sorted with superglue.

Le crack!
Over the past 18 months, I've really enjoyed the ceramics classes but my interest in the medium is purely as a means to producing HO scale buildings for my layout. Don't think I need any more buildings, so not sure that there is any point re-enrolling for next session.

Pleasure and Pain:

Yesterday, I read that someone, moderately famous, held the view that pleasure was caused by the removal of pain: the greater the pain, the greater the pleasure that will follow its removal.

Annoyingly, I can find neither the book in which this was quoted nor can remember who was said to have propagated the view. And, it was only yesterday that I read it - I think.

Personally, I think there is a lot of truth in this. Delayed gratification would be an example. On the other hand, I get huge pleasure from listening to music regardless of my immediate past history of pain.
