Gare du Nord Canopy

Executed a couple of adjustments to the canopy made out of newspaper - looks better.

Last night's dinner:

Again, prepared by my wife: Stovies with carrots.

What are Stovies?

Believe it or not, there is a website devoted to Stovies. Here's its opening paragraph.

"There's a rumour that the word Stovies comes from the French "étouffée", to steam, but we think that's a load of old leftovers. Truth is that's exactly what stovies is - something to do on Monday with all that delicious meat and veg, fat and gravy, left over on the stove from the Sunday roast."

Like lots of traditional dishes Stovies can be made with a variety of ingredients. My wife tends to use: onions;  flat or Lorne sausage; potatoes and some kind of dripping or gravy.

What's flat or Lorne sausage?

Lorne sausage as opposed to links.
As part of a healthy Scottish breakfast with black pudding, baked beans and fried bread.:

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

I've always found this to be a slightly problematic commandment since clearly I love to be served French cuisine but know that if I was to do that unto others it would not be a popular course of action.

I prefer this commandment of Christ:

"Love one another as I have loved you."

Melancholic mood:

I'm in a somewhat melancholic mood this evening.

Schubert's "The Miller's Song" as sung by Aksel Schiotz fits in with that mood perfectly.
